Devin Lovett.

Artist.

Evolving from Expressionistic acrylic to the contemporary oil painting that we see today, Devin Lovett’s art style relies on using chiaroscuro-esque techniques that echo baroque era paintings. Devin is a prominent southern artist you can find in a number of prominent galleries and exhibitions ranging from annual exhibitions like Batesvilles Annual Juried Arts exhibition to esteemed exhibitions such as the Lagrange Biennial. He also takes pride in working with committees committed to bring light to social injustice like “The 1970 Augusta Riot Remembrance Committee”, and advocates for his community using his artistic talents.

Devin’s recent works (some of which you can find in the series “Obelisk'' on his website) center around identity. He portrays the black american identity in its infancy by emphasizing the skin tones and leaving the clothing negative to reflect the stripping away of the original african based identity leaving the figure with only its vibrant hue. The figures are also blinded to drive home the sense of uncertainty for this new cultures future in the same way african slaves were constantly uncertain of their own survival in this new forgein land

Below you can view some of his previous experience, accolades, and clients.

Writer.

Devin Lovett has been a published playwright for the past two to three years. He has won several awards for his work, and has had a short play produced in the "Columbus Black Theater Festival 2021".

Devin's written work focuses on controversial issues such as sexual assault, gender expectations, and even darker subject matter like suicide. From the perspective of a millennial mindset combined with influences from contemporary playwrights such as Jeremy O’Harris, Devin leans into the sometimes ugly sides of political and social arguments to ask the reader (rather than tell) if something is quote-unquote“wrong”.
