Sacrilege is defined as a violation of something that would be considered sacred. Though this word is often used in a religious context I have chosen to use this term to describe this series of paintings. Traditional figurative painting often involves capturing the form down to meticulous detail. I have instead chosen to highlight what i believe are key features, and will force the viewer to carve out the remaining forms for themselves. This technique both heightens the stark atmosphere and also adds a contemporary flare to each piece.
